Andhra Pradesh is one of the 29 states of India. It is situated on the country’s south-eastern coast. The state is the eight largest states in the India covering an area 160,205 km2. . The new capital of the Andhra Pradesh is in Guntur District east of Guntur City and it will be developed under the new capital Region Development Authority.



The state has the second longest coastline of the 972km among all states of India, second only to the Gujarat. It borders the Telangana in the northwest, Chhattisgarh in the north, Odisha in northeast, Tamil Nadu in the south and the water body of the Bay of Bengal in east, Tamil Nadu in the south. The small enclave of 30 km2 of Yanam, the district of Pondicherry, lies in the Godavari delta to northeast of the state.

There are two regions in the state named as the Coastal Andhra and the Rayalaseema and hence, the two regions are often referred as the Seemandhra by the news media. There are 13 districts with 9 in the Coastal Andhra and 4 in Rayalaseema. Visakhapatnam is largest city and the commercial hub of the state. other important cities are Kurnool, Kakinada , Eluru , Ongole , Tirupati, Guntur, Nellore and Rajahmundry .

Andhra Pradesh is endowed with the variety of the Physio-graphic features ranging from the Eastern Ghats, Nallamala Forest, Coastal plains to the deltas of the two major rivers of the Krishna and the Godavari. The state is the largest producer of the rice in India and hence it is named as the Rice Bowl of India. One of the classical languages of India, Telugu is the official language of the state. It is also rich in the Culture with the various pilgrimage destinations of the importance like the Tirumala temple, alongside the host of historical monuments to the tourists

Climate:

Climate of Andhra Pradesh depend on the geographical region. Monsoons play the major role in determining the climate of the state. Summers last from the March to June. In the coastal plain, the summer temperatures are generally higher than the rest of the state, with temperature ranging between 20 °C and 41 °C.

Cities of the State:

1.      Vijayawada 

Vijayawada is the second largest city in the Andhra Pradesh in the terms of the area and the Population, located on bank of the Krishna River. The city is major trading and the business centre and hence it is also known as the “The Business Capital of Andhra Pradesh”. Vijayawada is second largest city in the state.
Vijayawada city has been recognized as the ‘Global City of the Future’ by the McKinsey Quarterly. The political, agricultural, industrial sectors are a boon for its recognition. It is the hub of transportation with one of the largest railway junctions in India.

2.      Vishakhapatnam


Visakhapatnam is the largest city in the Indian state of Andhra Pradesh and the third largest city on the east coast of India. Visakhapatnam is the largest city coast of India after the Chennai and Kolkata. Visakhapatnam is the port city of the southern east coast of the Bay of Bengal and often called as “The Jewel of the East coast” and the “City of Destiny”. It is also the administrative headquarters of the Visakhapatnam district.
